Orchard Cottage is situated in Gravesend, part of the North Kent Community, within the Gravesham administrative district. The area stretches from London and Dartford to the west and Chatham and Gillingham to the east and is served by the main A2 and busy A227.

There is a main line rail facility within the town centre.

The town centre includes a relatively modern shopping area with a traditional pedestrian High Street and serves the needs of the local community. Regular bus routes commute to and from the nearby Bluewater Retail Park.

Old Road East forms part of the B261, running across the south side of Gravesend town centre serving its better residential districts. There is ready access to the A2/M2 via the A227. The home is midway between Parrock Road and the A226 Milton Road which both run down into the centre.
